47. John BEILBY 1, 2 (William , Thomas , Richard , Guy , Thomas , Robert ) was born in 1635 in Collingham, Yorkshire, England. He died in 1702. He was buried in Cayton Church.
John became a Justice of the Peace and was admitted in Laws at Greys in 1650.
It is from this point that the mystery of the third William (son of John begins). For William III, the rightful heir to the Beilby fortune was overlooked and the Killerby estate passed on to the second surviving daughter, Barbara of Killerby (A Beilby Odyssey, 42). Micklethwaite Grange was passed on to the eldest daughter who married Henry Thompson.
Micklethwaite Grange, became know latter on as "Beilby Grange with the Beilby coat of arms above the entrance dated 1660" and finally known as Wetherby Grange (A Beilby Odyssey, 43-44).
But what happened to William? As mentioned in a Beilby odyssey was he disinherited for taking part in the Jackobite rebellion as some Beilby's believe? I have my own theory, see appendix III.
